Event of Saqifa of Banu Sa‘ida

On the day the Prophet passed away, while Imam Ali and Banu Hashim were preparing his burial, a group of the Ansar and Muhajirun gathered at the Saqifa of Banu Sa‘ida and pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr, sidelining Imam Ali from the caliphate.
